The HISTORY>>

The Navotas Polytechnic College was founded by virtue of Resolution No. 94-06 of the Municipal Council of Navotas, which was signed on May 18, 1994

 

The resolution was approved on May 18, 1994 defining its purpose as follows:

 

1 To provide educational opportunities to its deserving but indigent constituents;

2 To give professional training in scientific, technological, industrial and vocational fields; and

3 To produce responsible graduates who will fill up the shortage in trained manpower needed by the industry in the Municipality of Navotas and the country

 

The primarily goal of the College is to give opportunity to poor but deserving students of Navotas to pursue tertiary education and acquire knowledge and skill through excellence in academic and technological courses, so they can live with dignity as humane person and as members of the community, who can contribute to the growth and advancement of Navotas and of the Filipino nation as a whole.

 

On august 17, 1994, the Secretary of Education (DECS) through its Director, Dr. Nilo L. Rosas, authorized the first year operation of the College by virtue of Government Permit Nos. 461-468, series of 1994.

 

The founder and first President of the College was former mayor of Navotas Felipe C. Del Rosario, Jr

 

The classes started off at Navotas Municipal High School and Bagumbayan Elementary School Unit I, located at Barangay Sipac, Almacen, Navotas, and Metro Manila. The classes started on November1994, the start of the 2nd semester, Academic Year 1994-1995

 

From November 7, 1994 to August15, 1996, Dr Flora Besacruz was the dean with only 12 professors at the helm of the instructional task

 

On August 26, 1996 Mrs. Luningning S. Villamejor, an educator and administrator were designated College dean. By this time the college offered six four (4)-year courses to its population of 1664 students

 

On November, 1994, the Secretary of Education authorized the first year operation of the general education curriculum of the purposed Navotas Polytechnic College for the following courses: Bachelor of Arts (A B), Bachelor of Secondary Education (B S Ed), Bachelor of Elementary Education (B E Ed), Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (B S A), Associate in Business Ad.(A B A), and Associate in Computer Science (A C S). A B A & A C S courses eventually developed into B S B A and B S C S consecutively. Municipal Ordinance No 94-06 appropriated the amount of P500, 000.00

 

For academic year 1997-1998 on its third year of operation, the college wad finally housed in a P50,757,000.00 three (3)-storey building of 42 rooms in an area of 7000 square meters, located at Bangus St., Corner Apahap St. North Bay Blvd. South, Navotas, Metro Manila

 

On May 18, 1999, Dr. Romeo C. Torres was designated as the College Dean, with Atty. Angel D. Calayag as President and Dr. Apolinar B. Parale as Vice-President for academic Affairs. Andon December 11, 2000, Ms. Rebecca A. Reyes was designated by Mayor Tobias Reynald M. Tiangco as Special Assistant to the President

 

The local government of Navotas finances the NPC during the incumbency of former Mayor Felipe C. Del Rosario, Jr (1994-1998), then Acting Mayor Tobias Reynald M. Tiangco (June 30, 1998 to January 31, 1999), the late mayor Ciprano c. Bautista (February 1, 1999 to May 11, 2000), and again by now Mayor Tobias Reynald M. Tiangco (May 12, 2000 to present)
